Instacube - Kickstarter ($149.00 - $199.00)

Here is yet another reason why I dig Kickstarter so much, check out the Instacube!
The Instacube is a digital picture frame designated for your Instagram feed. This little guys boasts a 600x600 lcd touchscreen and performs as if you were on your smartphone. It also has buttons on the top for no whammies, STOP!  errrr, I mean to make it easy to like those rad images in your feed. One last note, it's lithium battery powered so if you have wifi you have a cool digital picture box! Here are the specifics and the option to buy:

Instagram - Update

It's been a little while since we've seen an update but today adds some great new features:
Photo's on a map: geocoded images will now show up on a map, with your permission of course. This can be found on the redesigned profile screen.
Another big feature is you now have infinite scrolling on your photo feeds!
I was hoping to see a couple new filters added but unfortunately not this time around.
If you've updated, leave me a comment on what you think.

The Paparazzo Light - Kickstarter

If you're unfamiliar there is a great website called Kickstarter, a funding platform where creative minds are taking their ideas and dreams and bringing them to life. I recently came across the Paparazzo Light that looks nostalgic but provides a great improvement over the iPhone's native flash.  If you have a minute, check it out here:

Carousel - $1.99

Carousel is a stand alone Mac app for all you Instagram lovers out there. Upon launching the app you instantly get an elegant twitter-esque feel with it's scrolling timeline. Complete with built in shortcuts you can view the images larger, comment and of course heart them right there in the timeline. Sorry, there isn't an upload option, but then again it's supposed to be a mobile app anyway, right? In addition you can also view other users who liked the image as well as seamlessly view their timeline. I can already hear you, do I really need another IG viewer, and why would I want to pay for a viewer when there are websites out there that let me view for free?
Remember how I told you Carousel has a scrolling timeline, well it also has notifications letting you know when new images have arrived in your feed. Let me take that one step further. Let's say you haven't opened Instagram in awhile and you're trying to get caught up on all the goodness in your timeline only to find out IG won't let you load anymore images. As long as you have Carousel open in the background it's continually updating all your new posts while still sitting on the last post you viewed, all you have to do is scroll up.
Carousel is a great minimal app for your mac that gets the job done.
Here is a free 15 day trial: www.carousel.mobileux.com

Permissions - Free!

Security security security!
I like to try a lot of different apps to see how they perform and along with trying these apps they usually ask for permission to access my personal information. If I don't think the app is worthy, it gets deleted and I move on. Unfortunately just deleting an app will not remove the permission you granted it.
Luckily for us, there is a new free app called Permissions.
After installing, if you give it permission it will scan all the big dogs such as facebook, instagram, twitter, google, flickr and several more. I was a little surprised to see the long list of authorized applications I had given the thumbs up to use my info. Permissions being the awesome app it is also has the revoke access button, allowing you to immediately revoke the app in question's access immediately.
This app also has internet access at mypermissions.com, which is subscription based.
